Acuity on the International Space Station
Scientists have known for sometime that approximately 20 percent of astronauts develop eye problems such as papilledema, cotton wool spots, increased IOP and other problems while in space. Until recently, NASA was not able to monitor and evaluate these changes until astronauts returned to earth. Scientists now track potential eye problems in real time to determine when the changes begin, how they progress and which astronauts are affected. We are proud to be a part of NASA’s Ocular Health Study!
