After becoming frustrated with the lack of digital eye testing options and visual acuity tools available in 1999, Dr. Daniel Bintz and Dr. Jerry Carter identified the need for a comprehensive digital acuity system. With Dr. Carter as the software developer and Dr. Bintz as the sales and marketing lead, this duo of doctors developed the first version of Acuity Pro, one of the first of its kind.

Since the initial version was released over 25 years ago, ongoing version changes have been made based upon customer feedback and new technology. Acuity Pro has always had a “by doctors, for doctors” philosophy, and the difference in the details of our system shine through for all of our customers.

In addition to acuity testing using multiple optotype targets, Acuity Pro speeds patient education by including over 50 pathology images. This provides an easy, integrated mechanism to show the patient more about their condition after eye testing. Based on areas of speciality, doctors can import any number of pathology images from their collection or from vendors.

Finally, Acuity Pro promotes your products and services by including the ability to display marketing slides. A sample slide set is included that you can customize to your practice. Research shows that “marketing from the chair” can have a positive impact on your bottom line.

I have been using Acuity Pro for 5 years with no problems. It is very easy to use and the staff has no difficulties moving between screens. I find the Speedy Acuity feature is a fantastic time saver. Also I upload various DVDs for premium IOLs and show them to selected patients while they are dilating. This is the best value in acuity software there is.

When we purchased Acuity Pro, we were amazed at the number of things that it could do. Patients have been very pleased and comment about us being high tech. It is the single most dramatic improvement in acuity testing that I have seen. I recommend Acuity Pro highly.

I LOVE MY Acuity Pro eye chart program. It is the BEST EYE CHART I HAVE EVER USED, EVER! I have used Acuity Pro since I started my practice almost 4 years ago. It has made life so easy switching between the Snellen and children’s charts with the touch of a button. Not to mention how impressed every patient is by the ‘updated chart’. I’ve recommended it to every student that rotates through my office.

Acuity Pro has much more to offer than the conventional projectors, manual or automated, but the impression to the patient is worth it alone. I have had patients comment on how up-to-date our office is compared to the last office they visited because their prior eye doctor was still shining letters on the wall (versus computer controlled).

It is refreshing to interact with someone who is interested in our business and not just theirs. No sour grapes, you just stand out from the rest.

Just wanted to send a note saying I love my new Acuity ProTM with flat screen monitors! It makes a difference in patient’s perception of being hi-tech but without actually timing it, it seems to have taken about 4-5 minutes off my total exam time. Maybe it just seems like it but my refractions seem almost embarrassingly quick. I almost (but don’t) feel guilty for being so quick. We make up for it with patient education…. it really has added some fun back into my exams and helping my practice at the same time.

I just used it on my first four patients and it is very very sweet. I thought there would be a learning curve, but already I can see it is easier than using a projector.

I love the random letter ability. In fact, some patients think they’ve read the chart incorrectly because I switch letters (covertly!) while they change cover paddle from left to right eye….

Your product is superb; for the price it is unbeatable. I have saved thousands of dollars on bulbs and new projectors since we are using “retired” computers from our office network. We love it for kids, especially because we don’t have to search for slides and we can switch instantly to tumbling E, numbers, HOTV, Landolt C, etc.

No commercially available acuity chart program is less expensive than Acuity Pro, and it offers more than programs costing much more. Best bang for the buck I’ve ever had, and patients always remark about the cool flat screen up on the wall.

Recently upgraded to Acuity Pro Version 9. Thanks to Toni who made it happen for us! She promptly shipped all the materials and accessories to me. Once I opened the package and loaded the thumb drive, it was a piece of cake to get up and running again. The Version 9 upgrade has some very nice features that all of the doctors and technicians at our practice like very much. Acuity Pro is definitely the best! Thanks again Toni!

Our Contact Lens Clinic used to have projectors that required dim room illumination, which causes pupil dilation, making it difficult if not impossible for Bifocal contact lens fitting. With Acuity Pro, the computer screen brightness allows testing in normal room illumination. Additionally, the patient has to read the same line of acuity many times during fitting & follow-up and even more in complex cases. The ability to have an unlimited number of 20/20 and 20/15 letters/lines is very valuable. Our students like the ease of use and robust features that Acuity Pro provides.

We have had Acuity Pro in our 3 exam rooms for several years and wonder what life was like back in the dark ages of using a projector. Using Acuity Pro is a great way to recycle any old computers sitting around the office which were replaced by faster ones.

It's marvelous. I wished I’d had it years ago. No more blown bulbs or poor contrast. Patients can no longer memorize the chart. For the price, nothing else out there comes close.

What price can you put on the WOW factor patients perceive when I use my computerized eye chart? It fits in with the modern, state of the art office I have and enables me to differentiate myself from other optometrists . Patients do tend to equate your professional expertise with how hi-tech your equipment is and the eye chart is a very affordable and effective marketing tool.

Very cool product…

We have Acuity Pro in all of our exam rooms and really like it a lot. We get a lot more consistency from room to room than we previously got with projectors. We have 15 inch flat screens mounted in all exam lanes connected to the same computer we input all our patient records in (so we have two monitors in each room, one on the counter and one on the wall).

I have been using Acuity Pro for at least 12 years. Computers have come and gone but there was never a software issue. Pretty impressive. At one point I tried multiple other electronic acuity charts lured by their bells and whistles but all had some software issue that we do not have time for. I have only called Acuity Pro support once in all those years to help reinstall on a new computer. That computer is still running, XP no less without a hiccup. It is a sound product that you can trust, computers not so much.

Forget the price of projectors, bulbs, mirrors, etc. There is NO COMPARISON between the functionality you get with Acuity Pro and a remote controlled projector. I wouldn’t go back to a projector if you paid me.” ……. “These guys have done a great job of listening to their users and fine tuning the software over the past couple of years.
